About 10 years ago my brother Tristan, suggested that I should try to make some paintings. My very first was one of the Clifton Suspension Bridge at Night, and although it was my initial attempt, enough people said that they liked it to encourage me to continue. In fact it sold at my first exhibition. And since then I have painted 70 pictures and sold about half of them.
My main interests are sea-scapes and land-scapes.
I live in Somerset in the UK and have had a number of local exhibitions. I enjoy working in acrylic paint and find that it is a versatile medium and sympathetic to my way of working. I am a self-taught painter, although I come from an ‘artistic’ family. My dad was a lighting director at the BBC, my brother is a Creative Director in Sydney and my mum is a sculptor. So I get plenty of support and encouragement.
I am fascinated by texture, colour, pattern and design. I work from photos. Either ones that I take myself, or else ones that my family have taken. If you have a favourite photo that you would like me to make into a painting, I would be very happy to accept commissions.
If you like my work, please leave me a comment. Or, if you are interested to buy a painting, or commission one please contact: Gylda Thomas at firstname.lastname@example.org
